How to work with The Flower Attunement Tarot

Introduction to the Flower Attunement Tarot

Cartomancy is the art of using a deck of playing cards to answer insightful questions and practice divination. This method can be found in many cultures dating back several hundred years before the 1700s when it became popular in Europe. The origins of playing card symbology have several theories in this system; the four suits represent the four elements in nature. Highest to lowest from the color-coded method: Spades (black) being the highest representing the Air element, Hearts (red) being the Water Element, in the middle Clubs (black) being Fire, and the lowest Diamonds (red) being Earth. This can be interpreted as the seasons and the four cardinal directions of our internal compass rose. These opposing forces represent life's challenges and how nature consistently achieves balance in the changing seasons' polarities.

In the Flower Attunement Tarot, you will see a traditional depiction of 52 playing cards and one Joker, also known as the Fool, in a traditional Tarot card deck. The cards have been blended with tarot archetypes, elements, planetary actions, and numerology. These relate to plant healing allies from The Flower Attunement oracle and guidebook.

Each suite is described by blending the seven-eight cards from a traditional tarot deck by the major and minor arcana through its numerology, the minor cards in the traditional translations from Ace to Kings as the Pages to Jacks. The major cards are blended with the minor cards by telling a story of numbers and how each element reacts to the world around us and within us. The Major cards Ace through ten energies are traditionally translated, and the other eleven are subtracted and added to their numerological connection.

The story is told through the mental and emotional connection between our minds and heart. Passion, action, and how this affects our body, security, and how we identify with the world. Through this lens, the Flower Attunement Tarot provides remedies, support, and healing through its deep wisdom and understanding. Each plant's energy relates to Earth, Air, Fire, and Water elements and to the tarot by its planetary and elemental connection. Within this connection, each plant offers medicinal healing that arises in each reading.

This identification was used in medical astrology and the study of herbalism dating back to Renaissance medicine and was required to be understood by doctors until the 17th century.

The intention in using these cards is to gain self-awareness and heighten perspective.

The descriptions for each element provide a closer look inside ourselves. Each plant or “flower essence'' can assist us in feeling supported or help break a pattern.

Each flower or plant holds specific energies that affect our minds and bodies. Depending on how you use the plants and flowers, this energy can be interpreted through its doctrine and medicinal qualities. You can have various experiences, but the essence of the plant will always be present,  powerful, and sometimes feel subtle.

Flower essences are made by extracting the plant's essence using spring water, solar rays, and flower. Once the plant material is extracted, it is carefully filtered, leaving no material behind. Only a few drops of the water essence are then preserved using brandy or other preservation options.

The Flower Attunement Tarot can be used just like any other traditional seventy-eight-card tarot deck. You can employ your preferred formal layouts and spreads for readings. The Tarot, a visual storytelling system, encompasses a wide range of human emotions and experiences. The cards serve as a tool for interpreting life events, offering support and healing through challenging times with the assistance of the plant allies. Additionally, it helps foster a deeper connection to nature and ritual.

Shuffling the cards introduces an element of randomness, providing new perspectives each time a set of cards is chosen. These card narratives can guide the recipient of the reading to break free from existing thought patterns and view the situation through a fresh lens.

For detailed instructions on card layouts, please consult the Flower Attunement guidebook for helpful suggestions and guidelines.

Each card that is revealed during a reading corresponds to a specific flower essence. A remedy can be crafted using the essence, which can be ingested as a tincture, added to water or tea, or even used in a bath.

One Card Draw:

The cards in this deck serve as a powerful conduit to our subconscious, enabling us to tap into the unity of the natural elements present on Earth. Utilizing this layout can help us establish a ritual practice and offer physical remedies to assist in our personal growth and journey. Through this spread, we can establish a connection not only with the seasons that shape our lives but also with a plant ally that can aid us in navigating through transformative periods. When a card is drawn in reverse or dormant position, it signifies an opportunity for deep healing, while upright cards indicate support and guidance.

"What was the energy of the past month?"

The Nine of Hearts: Moon & Fuchsia

There are multiple ways to interpret this combination.

The Moon card represents the divine guidance within you and the illumination of your inner light. It signifies a period of self-reflection and delving deeper into your subconscious to confront negative self-talk and unfulfilling communication patterns. Fuchsia, on the other hand, evokes a true sense of self-love that emanates from within, allowing you to express the inherent beauty that resides within you without seeking external validation.

The Nine of Hearts signifies the appreciation and gratitude you feel for yourself as you have overcome numerous internal challenges.

By moving forward and attracting from a place of inner love, much like the Fuchsia's joyful dance that naturally attracts pollinators to its vibrant and captivating fruits, you are reminded that once you find inner joy and self-love, what is meant for you will effortlessly find its way to you.

It is worth noting that Fuchsia thrives in shadier, cooler environments, reminiscent of the moonlit night. With its association with water and Venus, Fuchsia acts as a diuretic and detoxifier for the lymphatic system. In energetic terms, this translates to emotional release (as a diuretic and water element) and heart detoxification (aiding the lymphatic system).
