New moon in Aquarius & Borage Flower Essence

New moon in Aquarius

Aquarius rules

The 11th house, also known as the house of friendships, hopes, and wishes, also signifies our social networks, associations, and our capacity for fulfilling our dreams. It represents the role of community, collaboration, and the support we receive from others. The energy of Aquarius is humanitarian, and within us, it seeks knowledge and inspiration to elevate the world. Aquarius is ruled by the Star card in the tarot and is represented by 17. The self-consciousness of the magician and the driving force of the chariot together evoke the number 8, which represents strength. The star is our new self being born. We are naked to the world in our authenticity. The innocence of hope, new beginnings, and the light at the end of the tunnel. The Star reminds us that in order to create balance and shine in the material world, we must look within ourselves through meditation and self-care. The star embodies the element of air, and its challenges are of the mind and our own limitations.

The Remedy For Courage

Borage, also known as Starflower, possesses a mesmerizing radiance resemblance to shooting stars streaking across the celestial atmosphere.  Its name, derived from the Latin term Borago, meaning "corago" or courage, reflects its inherent ability to instill bravery within us. This remarkable plant holds profound healing properties, particularly as a nervine that soothes our minds, alleviating the weight of depression and anxiety. Governed by the celestial forces of Uranus and Jupiter, Borage establishes a profound connection that expands our intuition, empowering us to confront our deepest fears and liberate our minds from self-imposed limitations. Borage serves as a guiding light, emboldening us to embrace our fears and place our trust in the divine and its infinite powers.

The distillation of alchemy is a profound spiritual process that involves the purification and transformation of the self. Just as alchemists sought to transmute base metals into gold, the distillation of the soul aims to refine and elevate one's consciousness. It is a journey of inner alchemy, where impurities and limitations are distilled away, leaving behind a purified essence of the true self. Through this process, one gains a deeper understanding of one's own nature and the interconnectedness of all things. It is a path of self-discovery, growth, and spiritual awakening, leading to a state of higher consciousness and union with the divine.

The arrival of the Peacock’s Tail marks a turning point in the journey of the hero. Up to this point, the alchemist has been working on their mental and emotional bodies. The Peacock’s Tail marks the end of the black night of the soul. The process of fermentation is where the ego of our former self is allowed to rot, decompose, and let go. It can be a difficult period as strong feelings of depression or despair may be involved as we struggle to cope with losing our past personality identifiers. The second stage of Fermentation (spiritualization) brings us back to a new life in spirit, like how grape juice changes its identity into a newborn wine that contains a higher and more active life energy.

Fermentation is a process that breaks down substances and transforms them into something new. This stage represents intense energy and creativity, where old patterns and beliefs are broken down and transformed into new and vibrant expressions of the self. It is a powerful process of transformation and growth as an activation of the inner fire and the alchemical process of transmuting old wounds, limitations, and fears into wisdom, strength, and resilience.

During this stage, we may experience a surge of inner fire and passion, igniting a spark within and fueling a deep sense of inspiration and motivation. It is a time of great energy and enthusiasm as we tap into our innate potential and explore new possibilities, embracing the metamorphic power within us and allowing it to guide us toward a new, exciting path.

Moon phase ritual tools, teas and flower essences

felicia howe

The Moon has a powerful effect on the earth; the movements of plant leaves move with the gravitational pull just as the tides of the ocean. The Moon increases moister in the soil during the New Moon phase marking a desirable time to sow seeds, causing swelling for greater germination and better-established plants. Just as plants harness the energy of the Moon, the human body consists of up to sixty percent water; we expand and contract water held in the body and can become stagnant from unprocessed emotions causing irritability and tiredness. Because the Moon distributes the vital forces of the Sun, this influences fluidic change, adaptability, and emotional changes through the sympathetic nervous system, influencing the deep subconscious and hidden emotions. The Moon takes us inward and outward depending on its entered cycles and rhythms. Each phase offers a time for reflection and wisdom into the mysteries of our connection to the natural world. This kit offers deep connection and invites ritual practice thought the year.

New Moon Phase] Waning marks a new phase and is always in the same Sun sign of the zodiac each month. As the Moon decreases, it initiates a time for inner reflection, resting, and meditation. This is a good time for setting intentions and divination. Just as the New Moon increases moister for the earth. The New Moon can invoke emotions and hidden shadows, making this the perfect occasion to learn and discover more about ourselves under the veil.

The New Moon is a  perfect time to formulate new intentions and re-evaluate existing ones. This is a resting energy phase, so get plenty of rest and give yourself the space to connect with your true purpose, passion, and mission. Set aside time for meditating or journaling, or head into nature for inspiration. From here, you can set intentions aligned with your authentic self. When you feel ready, write down your new intentions and go through your existing list to make sure they are still valid.

Flower Essence Services

Botanical Oracle Readings & Flower Essences consultations

  • Flower essences are the direct essence of the plant; they pack a powerful punch in their abilities to heal our nervous system. Their delivery system is from an internal approach working directly with our nerve cells, addressing the internal communication within the body. Physically, it is similar to an acupuncture treatment releasing stagnation and harmonizing our overall well-being. Flower essences have earned the reputation of being known as liquid energy; they can help us recognize and let go of behavior patterns that generate negative thinking. They boost our mood and enhance our perspectives, giving us a different way of seeing life. They also support our physical well-being by offering protection from environmental stress and sensitivities. Let's face it. Flowers make us feel good. They are instant mood enhancers brain chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, and serotine are released, creating a positive reaction such as happiness and reducing stress related to depression while making us feel secure and relaxed.

What does a Flower Essence Attunement session look like?

To sum it up. Flower essence tinctures work by modifying energy flow through the specific acupuncture meridians. Shifts in these energetic patterns influence the consciousness in helpful ways, both emotionally and physically. These homeopathic remedies can be described as “vibrational” or energy medicine. Flowers themselves contain the highest concentration of life force energy of the plant. We can harness the flower's healing vibrational pattern and power through the sun infusion. This is imprinted in the water and then preserved as medicine.

However, there is a science to these powerful mystical allies.

This is where Quantum mechanics, the physics theory, describes nature's physical properties. And the physiological connection to the human body. We are a product of our environment. Everything we are consuming around us becomes a part of us. There is a physiological explanation for why we hold stress, trauma, and emotional toxins in the body. This is through our perception; it is how we identify and interpret sensory information to represent and understand the presented data of our environment. This involves signals that go through the nervous system, which, in turn, stimulate the senses and store information within the body. Memories become imprints, forming neuropathways and habits. Emotional toxins and patterns become hard to break because it consumes us, becoming a part of us.

Plants also respond to their environments. The science behind their superpowers is primal. Like us, plants have organs and a sophisticated system to detect and respond to light, gravity, temperature, and physical touch receptors, sense environmental factors and relay the information through an intermediate chemical messenger response. This symbiotic connection between plants and humans' sensory systems allows for a seamless delivery system.

How to choose the suitable Flower Essence?

No matter how medicinal plants are used medicinally, their essence lifts our spirits and calms our bodies. Because flower essences have a faint to no scent, describing how they will make you feel is personal. However, understanding their chemistry, qualities, and environment gives us depth and understanding of their abilities and how they affect our body on a mental, emotional and spiritual level. Because each plant is unique, rigorous study, understanding, and connection to the natural world are vital factors when facilitating these therapeutics.

The Oracle as a visual tool.

My sessions involve a handcrafted oracle with specific botanicals that harness qualities for many mental and emotional conditions that most people suffer from. I have two styles for these readings. Each reading provides excellent depth to either an internal or external situation. Through the botanicals and their medicinal qualities, a story is presented with a visual experience this allows us to go deeper into specific areas of our lives that need extra support and healing. Because we are consuming so much information and environmental stress, the botanical oracle system helps tap into the peripheral nervous system and provides a remedy for releasing emotional stagnation by blending a customized Flower Essence elixir based on what has been revealed through the subconscious level. With the synergetic qualities of each essence, they provide mental and emotional healing and give us spiritual support for our well-being, connecting to nature and instilling mindfulness.

The Essence of Sunflower

felicia howe

Sunflower

Latin Name: ‘Helianthus’

Planetary Characteristics: Sun/ Fire Element

The name Sunflower, or Helianthus annuus, comes from the word Greek helios, meaning “Sun,”

Although the word “sunflower” may conjure an image of a giant yellow bloom several feet tall, Sunflowers come in many different shapes and sizes. There are dozens of varying sunflower species native to the Americas (at least 70) that can be found in various locations worldwide, with petals of red, orange, or purple and heights ranging up to 30 feet.

Sunflowers track the sun with their blossoms rising in the east and resting in the west at sunset, this is referred to as heliotropism. Scientists reveal sunflowers have circadian rhythms, which promote this behavior. A young sunflower’s face follows the sun from sunrise to sunset every day and repeats the cycle until maturity. As sunflowers reach maturity, their internal clocks start slowing down until they finish the heliotropism behavior completely. Mature Sunflowers facing East-attract up to five times more pollinators because they warm up faster than westward-facing plants. Sunflowers can self-pollinate in the event of a lack of pollinators such as bees. Its ability to do this can recreate an identical seed to its original origin. The head of the sunflower is a combination of a thousand tiny flowers. Each petal on the circumference of a sunflower is a flower itself. These long, colorful petals are known as “ray florets.” if you look closely at the pattern of a sunflower’s seeds, you’ll notice a spiral pattern. Often, the florets and seeds within the pattern follow the Fibonacci sequence. In this mathematical sequence, each number is the sum of the previous two consecutive numbers, so it goes 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and so on. Count the clockwise and counterclockwise spirals of seeds to the outer edge, and you’ll often find they add up to two consecutive numbers in the sequence, like 55 and 89. Sunflowers can remove harmful toxins from the soil, such as metals, including lead, copper, and zinc. It's also used in phytoremediation,” a process that employs various types of plants to remove, transfer, stabilize, and destroy contaminants in our soil, water, and air. Compared to other cleanup methods, such as soil excavation or pumping polluted groundwater, phytoremediation has become a clean, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly way to reclaim and reuse land that has been tainted by poisonous chemicals and heavy metals.

The Energy Behind the Sunflower

It is known that Native Americans developed the sunflower plant as a food source. According to a University of Arizona report, sunflower cultivation is thought to have begun over 8,000 years ago. Some even suggest sunflower cultivation began before corn and beans. Although unsuspecting, Sunflowers have a wide variety of healing powers that improves digestion, strengthen bones and muscles, and brain health. Sunflower seeds are protein-rich and contain vitamins A, B, and E. They are rich in calcium and minerals. The glorious patterns in the sunflower reveal the seeds of life that represent all creation. This beautiful geometry shows us its healing and reminds us that we are all connected to higher consciousness. The Sunflower is ruled by the Sun and brings us Fire and passion. However, the Sunflower also has the quality of the element Water and a connection to the Moon that works harmoniously with the Sun's energy to create a balance of inward and outward expression. The Moon pushes the life force energy of the sun into full expression shedding light into the shadow and reminding us of what we are here to create. This co-existence brings the masculine and feminine together in balance with each other. It helps us to harmonize these forces within our relationships and ourselves.Sunflowers open us up to new ideas, and new potential, instilling an innocence and giving us the vitality of the Sun, building our courage and confidence. The essence of Sunflower and the Sun helps us to shine bright through authenticity, healing our perception from a place of a balanced personality building a healthy ego and strong solar plexus. Sunflowers help lift our vibration and help us let go of toxic situations that no longer serve us. Their big, bright yellow petals shine strong and confident giving us support and increasing vitality.

The Science Behind Flower Essences

felicia howe

What are flower essences? Flower essences are gently distilled concentrates. The term vibrational medicine is used a lot to describe them; they are that, but there is a science as to how these mysterious botanical elixirs affect our mind and emotional body.

Flowers are harvested in small batches with intentional and delicate procedures. The botanicals are then immersed in Springwater. The minerals in spring water are ionic, which helps the body absorb them easily. Water is kinetic; in physics, this means water holds the energy it possesses due to its constant movement, and its small molecules can be boiled and stay the same weight and consistency.

Heat is then applied to the immersed plant material; the traditional method would allow the infusion to absorb the sun's rays for about four hours; usually, temperatures can rise anywhere from 102 to 130 degrees depending on exposure and the sun's intensity. This is warm enough to extract small amounts of volatile oils and the “essence” of the plant character. Because water is a universal solvent, the action of heat captures the essence into liquid, and all the plant material is meticulously strained and disregarded.

There is no biomechanical plant material is used in the final process; ingesting these flower elixirs offers a different kind of medicinal benefit. Unlike Essential oils, where thousands of plant matter is steam distilled, the quintessence (oil) of the plant is used for its therapeutic benefits. The olfactory response stimulates the limbic brain, offering an instant physical connection to memory and memory stimulation, calming the cerebral nervous system.

Applying essential oils to the skin also engages our noticeable senses. The integumentary system protects our body from environmental damage and pathogens. Our skin is the largest organ in the body. It is literally what protects us from the outside world; there are so many known health benefits essential oils offer our skin. That's because when the action of water and heat alters massive amounts of plant material, it is transformed into a chemical component. It consists of antiviral, anti-bacterial, and antioxidant abilities.

Because each plant is unique, rigorous study, understanding, and connection to the natural world are key factors when facilitating these therapeutics.

The science behind their superpowers is primal. Like us, plants have organs and a sophisticated system to detect and respond to light, gravity, temperature, and physical touch receptors, sense environmental factors and relay the information through an intermediate chemical messenger response. My theory is the symbiotic connection between plants and humans' sensory systems allows for a seamless delivery system.

Our nervous system is composed of three parts Cerebral spinal NS, Autonomic NS, and Peripheral these systems all work together in different forms of communication. The peripheral NS consists of a network of nerve cells that carry messages to and from the central nervous system. They are responsible for sensory, including smell, hearing, touch, and sight. These nerves carry messages from tissues and organs to the brain and spinal cord. We are a product of our environment. Everything we are consuming around us becomes a part of us. There is a physiological explanation for why we hold stress, trauma, and emotional toxins in the body. This is through our perception; it is how we identify and interpret sensory information to represent and understand the presented information of our environment. This involves signals that go through the nervous system, which, in turn, stimulate the senses and store information within the body. Memories become imprints, forming neuropathways and habits. Emotional toxins and patterns become hard to break because it consumes us, becoming a part of us.

Our bodies are constantly moving energy; we are mostly water, and water becomes the environment it is given it adapts. Some essential oils have been studied in laboratories for their incredible effects on the brain for focus and concentration, relief of stress and anxiety, and the physical association to smell and touch. A powerful tool for mindfulness and neuroplasticity is recognizing and rewiring our neural network of thinking, responding, and reacting.
Flower essences are the direct essence of the plant; they pack a powerful punch in their abilities to heal our nervous system. Their delivery system is from an internal approach working directly with our nerve cells, addressing the inner communication within the body. Physically, it is similar to an acupuncture treatment releasing stagnation and harmonizing our overall well-being.

How to use the Perusal of the Four Seasons Zine for ritual

felicia howe

Each season offers a theme that corraponse with the dominant elemental nature. Our mind, body, and spirit are synergistic to the natural world and adapt to each transition, whether we are aware of this or not. Some seasons bring more stress than others, depending on personal internal constitutions. Awareness of the changes in occurrence, can be empowering, help us learn to cope with stress, and have a deeper understanding of our environment.

Within each season, we are faced with spiritual, emotional, and physiological challenges. In this Zine series, I created a simple step-by-step calendar wheel using an internal compass and the four elemental directions. Medical astrology, numerology, and tarot all infused together as an introduction for further exploration. *note for accurate moon phases, you will need a current yearly calendar.

This year's example reading >

For this reading, I will be working with The Flower Attunement Tarot. The reason why I'm choosing this deck is I will be looking at this year's theme through Tarot numerology and corresponding plant allies.

* any Tarot deck or oracle will work just fine. The idea is to become attuned to the natural rhythms of the ever-changing seasons.

Everything in the universe has a numerical value and can help us identify and interpret energy.

We kick off the new year of 2023 in dissolution and heightened intuition. 2+2+3= 7 this means we moved into the archetypal Tarot year of The Chariot, which is ruled by the moon and the water element in Winter, where the water element dominates this season. Dream big! Go within and go with the flow! Being in control means allowing fluidity. 7 also offers The Tower card. Big changes are inevitable. This comes further into the the year and is truly welcomed, between Spring and Summer, the 7 of swords and 7 of pentacles help us to stay focused and true to ourselves and cultivate our heart's desires.

Trust, fluidity, setting clear intentions, and leading with intuition for 2023!

The Flower Attunement Tarot offers botanical flower essence elixirs known as vibrational medicine this works directly on our peripheral nervous system by releasing stress, anxiety, and trauma. Each essence is methodically designed for each season through its chemistry and mysticism.

Each botanical blend becomes our allies in coping with the ebbs and flows, like a remedy for each theme.

The Four Seasons Blends & Tarot

From The Flower Attunement Tarot:

The Major Arcana is a key component of the Tarot deck, consisting of 22 cards that hold significant symbolic and archetypal meaning. These cards represent important life lessons, spiritual growth, and transformative experiences. Each card in the Major Arcana carries its own unique symbolism and message, contributing to the overall narrative and journey depicted in a Tarot reading.

The significance of the Major Arcana lies in its ability to tap into the collective unconscious and offer profound insights into the human condition. These cards often represent major turning points, challenges, or opportunities in life. They provide guidance and illumination, helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their circumstances, and the path they are on.

The Major Arcana cards are numbered from 0 to 21, with each number corresponding to a specific card and its associated meaning. The Fool card, representing the number 0, symbolizes new beginnings, spontaneity, and taking risks. The following cards depict various stages and archetypes encountered on the journey, such as the Empress (fertility, abundance), the Chariot (willpower, determination), the Hanged Man (sacrifice, surrender), and the World (completion, fulfillment).

As a whole, the Major Arcana forms a narrative or a story that mirrors the trials, triumphs, and spiritual growth that individuals experience in their lives. They offer guidance and insight, encouraging self-reflection and exploration. Whether used for divination or self-reflection, the Major Arcana holds a powerful and significant role in helping individuals navigate life's complexities, make decisions, and gain deeper insights into their own personal journeys.

The tarot can be related to the four seasons in a few different ways. One way to interpret the connection is through the suits of the tarot deck. The four suits, which are typically represented by wands, cups, swords, and pentacles, can be associated with the seasons. Wands can symbolize spring, representing growth, creativity, and new beginnings. Cups can relate to summer, representing emotions, relationships, and abundance. Swords can be connected to autumn, representing intellect, challenges, and transformation. And pentacles can be linked to winter, representing stability, material wealth, and grounding.

Another way to relate the tarot to the four seasons is through the major arcana cards. Each card in the major arcana can represent a different aspect of life, including different stages or energy associated with the seasons. For example, The Fool card can be associated with spring, representing new beginnings and taking risks. The Sun card can relate to summer, symbolizing warmth, joy, and vitality. The Death card can be connected to autumn, representing transformation, letting go, and the cycle of life. And The World card can be linked to winter, symbolizing completion, fulfillment, and the end of a cycle.

Ultimately, the connection between the tarot and the four seasons can be a personal interpretation, and different people may associate different cards or aspects of the tarot with each season

The Four seasonal blends of the significant arcana provide support and ease through each season.

Let's face it; we are creatures of habit. Each season we move through presents a theme, whether that is changes in temperature, work, school, or experiencing the changes in our community and cities. These subtleties can create stress on the mind and body. Changing a habit or a routine can be disruptive. The four seasons blends are designed to give support, calm, vitality, and an adaptogenic effect to our mind, body, and spirit. This allows us to move fluidly through all the transitions and seasons of our lives.

Summary: In Spring, the focus is on calming the mind and letting go of what no longer serves. The flower essences of Pine, Clematis, Borage, and Goldenrod support mental clarity, courage, and finding life's purpose. Summer brings confidence and self-worth. Flower essences like Cleavers, Wormwood, Teasel, and Mullein help with nonattachment, releasing negativity, reclaiming power, and embracing the authentic self. Autumn is a time for willpower and strength. Flower essences such as Rowan, Echinacea, Sunflower, and Arnica provide protection, healing, balance, and wound healing. Winter focuses on calming the heart. Flower essences like Yarrow, Tulip, Sweet Pea, and Queen Anne's Lace support self-preservation, enlightenment, an open heart, and intuition.

Each season represents a different element, with Spring being associated with air, Summer with earth, Autumn with fire, and Winter with water. These flower essences help rebalance and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit, supporting personal growth and well-being throughout the year The four seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter, each have their own unique essence in nature and a profound impact on us. Spring is a season of renewal and rebirth. It is characterized by the blooming of flowers, the emergence of new leaves on trees, and the return of animal activity. The essence of spring is one of growth, vitality, and optimism. After the dormant winter months, the sights and scents of spring rejuvenate our spirits and inspire a sense of hope and possibility. How to work with The Flower Attunement Tarot

felicia howe

Introduction to the Flower Attunement Tarot

Cartomancy is the art of using a deck of playing cards to answer insightful questions and practice divination. This method can be found in many cultures dating back several hundred years before the 1700s when it became popular in Europe. The origins of playing card symbology have several theories in this system; the four suits represent the four elements in nature. Highest to lowest from the color-coded method: Spades (black) being the highest representing the Air element, Hearts (red) being the Water Element, in the middle Clubs (black) being Fire, and the lowest Diamonds (red) being Earth. This can be interpreted as the seasons and the four cardinal directions of our internal compass rose. These opposing forces represent life's challenges and how nature consistently achieves balance in the changing seasons' polarities.

In the Flower Attunement Tarot, you will see a traditional depiction of 52 playing cards and one Joker, also known as the Fool, in a traditional Tarot card deck. The cards have been blended with tarot archetypes, elements, planetary actions, and numerology. These relate to plant healing allies from The Flower Attunement oracle and guidebook.

Each suite is described by blending the seven-eight cards from a traditional tarot deck by the major and minor arcana through its numerology, the minor cards in the traditional translations from Ace to Kings as the Pages to Jacks. The major cards are blended with the minor cards by telling a story of numbers and how each element reacts to the world around us and within us. The Major cards Ace through ten energies are traditionally translated, and the other eleven are subtracted and added to their numerological connection.

The story is told through the mental and emotional connection between our minds and heart. Passion, action, and how this affects our body, security, and how we identify with the world. Through this lens, the Flower Attunement Tarot provides remedies, support, and healing through its deep wisdom and understanding. Each plant's energy relates to Earth, Air, Fire, and Water elements and to the tarot by its planetary and elemental connection. Within this connection, each plant offers medicinal healing that arises in each reading.

This identification was used in medical astrology and the study of herbalism dating back to Renaissance medicine and was required to be understood by doctors until the 17th century.

The intention in using these cards is to gain self-awareness and heighten perspective.

The descriptions for each element provide a closer look inside ourselves. Each plant or “flower essence'' can assist us in feeling supported or help break a pattern.

Each flower or plant holds specific energies that affect our minds and bodies. Depending on how you use the plants and flowers, this energy can be interpreted through its doctrine and medicinal qualities. You can have various experiences, but the essence of the plant will always be present,  powerful, and sometimes feel subtle.

Flower essences are made by extracting the plant's essence using spring water, solar rays, and flower. Once the plant material is extracted, it is carefully filtered, leaving no material behind. Only a few drops of the water essence are then preserved using brandy or other preservation options.

The Flower Attunement Tarot can be used just like any other traditional seventy-eight-card tarot deck. You can employ your preferred formal layouts and spreads for readings. The Tarot, a visual storytelling system, encompasses a wide range of human emotions and experiences. The cards serve as a tool for interpreting life events, offering support and healing through challenging times with the assistance of the plant allies. Additionally, it helps foster a deeper connection to nature and ritual.

Shuffling the cards introduces an element of randomness, providing new perspectives each time a set of cards is chosen. These card narratives can guide the recipient of the reading to break free from existing thought patterns and view the situation through a fresh lens.

For detailed instructions on card layouts, please consult the Flower Attunement guidebook for helpful suggestions and guidelines.

Each card that is revealed during a reading corresponds to a specific flower essence. A remedy can be crafted using the essence, which can be ingested as a tincture, added to water or tea, or even used in a bath.

One Card Draw:

The cards in this deck serve as a powerful conduit to our subconscious, enabling us to tap into the unity of the natural elements present on Earth. Utilizing this layout can help us establish a ritual practice and offer physical remedies to assist in our personal growth and journey. Through this spread, we can establish a connection not only with the seasons that shape our lives but also with a plant ally that can aid us in navigating through transformative periods. When a card is drawn in reverse or dormant position, it signifies an opportunity for deep healing, while upright cards indicate support and guidance.

Example:

"What was the energy of the past month?"

The Nine of Hearts: Moon & Fuchsia

There are multiple ways to interpret this combination.

The Moon card represents the divine guidance within you and the illumination of your inner light. It signifies a period of self-reflection and delving deeper into your subconscious to confront negative self-talk and unfulfilling communication patterns. Fuchsia, on the other hand, evokes a true sense of self-love that emanates from within, allowing you to express the inherent beauty that resides within you without seeking external validation.

The Nine of Hearts signifies the appreciation and gratitude you feel for yourself as you have overcome numerous internal challenges.

By moving forward and attracting from a place of inner love, much like the Fuchsia's joyful dance that naturally attracts pollinators to its vibrant and captivating fruits, you are reminded that once you find inner joy and self-love, what is meant for you will effortlessly find its way to you.

It is worth noting that Fuchsia thrives in shadier, cooler environments, reminiscent of the moonlit night. With its association with water and Venus, Fuchsia acts as a diuretic and detoxifier for the lymphatic system. In energetic terms, this translates to emotional release (as a diuretic and water element) and heart detoxification (aiding the lymphatic system).

Oregon Grape Flower Essence

felicia howe

Happy Vernal Equinox! “To make new again.’

Late Winter and early spring mark the time Oregon Grape shrubs bloom in the PNW; these
bright waxy tiny yellow blossoms bring a magnificent pop of color to the fresh dew to the densely green forest landscape. These vividly bright tiny flowers hold so much photosynthesis light lifting our spirits for the resurrection of spring.

Oregon Grape was chosen as the state flower in Oregon in the late eighteen hundreds, shortly after Oregon became a state. Native to the state, it was viewed as an” abundance of beauty.”

Although used by the Native American tribes of the Pacific Northwest for treatments of arthritis and a number of various issues, Oregon Grape has been long used in Chinese medicine as well. This plant has a long history as a healer.

To continue The Lovers theme of 2022 and the elements of Six, Oregon grape Flower essence gives the vigor of the Six of Pentacles in the Tarot or the Six of Diamonds in the Flower Attunement cartomancy. This essence teaches us about the Earthly balance of giving and receiving love through cooperation, confidence, and trust, helping us share the feeling of our fulfillment as we give to others.

Flower Essence- Giving and receiving

Planetary Characteristics: Saturn/Giving and receiving

Latin Name:‘Mahonia aquifolium’

From The Flower Attunement Guide Book-

In medical astrology, our skin and our bones are ruled by Saturn. Saturn teaches us boundaries and self-preservation. Life is a balance between open and closed at the right times. Just like the Moon, we have to honor our cycles. When we are taught self-preservation is selfish, we act out unhealthily by becoming closed off to the world and its potential gifs of love.

Oregon grape helps teach us healthy boundaries. Its medicinal qualities are known for treating many conditions and are often used as an antifungal treatment, eczema cream, psoriasis treatment, and rash aid. Our skin is a helpful site for self-reflection. It tells us when we are unbalanced and when our boundaries have been crossed emotionally and spiritually. Oregon grape flower essence helps us to find balance. Its spiky leaves remind us to strengthen our boundaries, while its beautiful flowers remind us to shine. Its fruit-bearing quality helps us to feel nourished in giving and receiving love.

Flower essence tinctures work by modifying energy flow through the typical acupuncture meridians. Shifts in these energetic patterns influence the consciousness in helpful ways, both emotionally and physically. These homeopathic remedies can be described as “vibrational” or energy medicine. Flowers themselves contain the highest concentration of life force energy of the plant. Through the sun infusion method, we can harness the flower's healing vibrational pattern and energy. This is imprinted in the water and then preserved as medicine. Preserved with brandy but can be replaced with glycerin upon request.

The flower essence of Oregon Grape is only the vibration of the plant, and no plant material is used in the harvesting process.

This can be used as a tincture ingested neat or added to water, tea, or whatever you feel. I recommend one drop in water three times a day. All of the essences can also be added to a bath.

Winter Solstice essences from the Flower Attunement

felicia howe

Balancing the elements

Winter Solstice offers a time to lay down a new foundation; when we are called to this, we are invoking changes of the mind and all that we feel through our body, starting at the base of our spine.

December brings Saturn's energy to examine structures we build for ourselves; its essence is cold, dense, dry, and solid. Saturn's energy is our bones and stability. When big changes and transitions occur, this energy starts at the base of our spine and moves up through our energy centers; this can cause triggers and upsets to areas of the body that hold certain emotions, from unprocessed anger to trauma and fear. I have put together a blend of flower essence allies to help us feel safe, grounded, and supported through this time of change.

As we move into Winter solstice, we are met with shorter days and longer nights. The Earth has transcended to the dark side of the Moon, the place of Shadows and where the dark Goddess will show us our deepest secrets if we let her. Winter is the time of receptivity, to go inward, slow down and witness ourselves. Our kidneys are ruled by the Water element and hold the energy of Venus; this energy is nurturing and receptive its shadow aspect can bring up fear and overwhelm us with the unknown; this can cause stress and trigger a stress response sending imbalances through the body. The Water element helps us to adapt and allows fluidic changes harmoniously.

The Moon pulls us inward and outward each month like a inhale and an exhale. Its action moves the elements of Air and Water; thoughts and emotions activate in the winter months and hold the key tool of dissolution, the transformation of our mind and emotions.

As we witness the plants and trees fall away, rot, and decay, we observe the nourishment from the alchemical process as Earth transforms what no longer serves. The water from rain rehydrates, and the snow cools the Earth from the hot sun and the summer months of fire energy. Water is the remedy winter brings. Water helps us adjust to fluidic change; water is boundless and holds the energy we give it.

Water in the body

The body is made up of 70% water.

The water element rules the kidneys, lymphatic system, and bladder and influences our adrenal glands, pituitary, and blood sugar. Emotionally when we are out of balance and feeling stuck, these body systems can feel overly emotional; low energy, water retention, depression, and laziness can contribute to symptoms of an excess of Water elements. The Water element contributes to fluidic change and adaptability when we are deficient in its energy, issues like insomnia, restlessness, headaches, and insensitivity may arise.

The antidote may be Water itself. Nourishing our body with hydration and cleansing our lymphatic system, where we can store unprocessed emotions, helps keep everything moving. Heavy emotions can benefit from the action of Fire when we lack energy and feel stuck. Fire can be the antidote and just what we need to give us the passion and momentum to move forward.

The Winter season allows us to look deeper within the shadow giving us a chance to become more confident and connected to our potential. We are giving and receiving energy throughout our lives and what we put out there comes back to us in various forms of unspoken communication; Winter requires us to pay attention to family, foundations, and willpower. Nourishing our kidneys and adrenals is essential to help us manage our stress and boost our vital life force energy and creativity.

The Winter Solstice is the celebration of returning to light. As nature moves through each season, we are given opportunities to participate in evolving transformations. We are reminded that without the shadow, we would not have the opportunity, inspiration, depth, and personal growth.

I have prepared a reading from the Flower Attunement Tarot for the seven energy bodies within us and the flower essences remedies that offer support for the mind, body, And soul, helping to elevate and bring more love and compassion for these times of transition, darker and unknown seasons we are in.

Skin healing tea blend

felicia howe

Taking care of your skin helps build a healthy immune system. Our skin is the body's largest organ; it protects us from invaders like bacteria and viruses. It plays a significant role in our immune health, directly interacting with the lymphatic and circulatory systems and protecting against invaders such as bacteria, viruses, UV radiation, and toxins. Other immune functions also include the secretion of vitamin D, a vital nutrient from solar rays that strengthen our defenses against serious disease and uplift our spirit.

We often hear the phrase, “ that person has thick skin.” Meaning they have strong boundaries and can handle anything. Well, metaphorically and physically, this means the same thing. When our boundaries are strong energetically, we add the emotional and spiritual elements necessary to manage our health confidently.

The liver is key for proper immune function. Positioned to detect pathogens entering the body. Inflammatory skin responses, whether severe or mild, can most likely be due to an overburdened liver. Diet and lifestyle changes can manage light to chronic conditions when our liver is overwhelmed by toxins, stress, and emotional contributions. This can lead to a dysfunctional cell turnover In the desquamation process. Over time causing skin issues like psoriasis and eczema. This process is responsible for healthy shedding producing healthy layers of keratin for new skin. This also slows down as we age, leaving us venerable to unhealthy cell regeneration. A consistent skin regimen involving cleansing, exfoliation, and protection can build immunity, self-confidence, and overall well-being.

The Skin Healing Tea Blend:

YELLOW DOCK- Grounding and fluidic, it moves and breaks up liver stagnation while toning the digestive system.

LEMON BALM- Anti-inflammatory calming to the nervous system and antioxidant that helps fight free radicals that cause aging and disease.

PEPPERMINT- rich in antioxidants, helps regenerative cell turnover, and visibly strengthens top layers of skin for a youthful glow.

NETTLES- High in vitamin A .C.B.and K boosting radiance and brightening complexion giving a fresh glow reduces redness from eczema, acne, and psoriasis.

RED CLOVER- Is concentrated in Phytoestrogens and isoflavones, which improve the skin by stimulating the skin's natural collagen production, increasing skin thickness, and improving moister levels.

ALFALFA- Rich in antioxidants that ward off free radicals from pollutants that cause aging; they are high in vitamins and nutrients, so they are extremely nourishing and soothing inflammation.

Overall the Skin Healing Tea Blend helps support the Parasympathetic nervous system, calming the mind, body, and soul and protecting, nourishing, and strengthening from the inside out.
